WMP works for on safety films for the Olympics
We were recently commissioned by Blue Zoo Productions to provide SFX beds for a series of safety animations called 'Be Safe'.
‘Be Safe’ are training videos for the people working on the Olympics site running up to this summer. They were really fun to work on and something a bit different for us. We’ll upload some soon!

WMP working with Ay-Pe and Alnwick Castle
We have been commissioned by Ay-Pe in York to create a new, ghostly music experience for an installation at Alnwick Castle in Northumberland. We're very excited about the ideas floating around but we'll keep most of it a secret for the time being.

WMP are now members of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors...
We are really looking forward to developing a close relationship with BASCA over the next 12 months as we think the work that they do is absolutely fantastic! More soon!

Adventures In Binaural
WMP delivers its first project to feature binaural audio.
We have recently finished a project for Leeds coffee shop Laynes Espresso, which is our first to feature binaural audio. Binaural is effectively headphone surround sound, giving the listener an immersive audio experience through stereo headphones. We have been busy building on our previous experience in this area and look forward to showing you some of the other binaural work we’ve been doing.

Christmas, Chief & CITV
A festive new project with Chief Productions on CITV this Christmas!
We are absolutely stoked to have contributed the main title theme for ‘Mission: Green Santa’, a 10-part children’s TV show created by Chief Productions, Manchester. The show’s purpose is to tell children of the dangers of global warming, and is airing on CITV at 4.20pm Mon-Fri for two weeks in the run-up to Christmas, starting 13th December.

Poster Love & Venturefest
We have posters...kind of like we have lift off but with posters instead of lift off...
Muchos gracias to the guys at Box-Head* for creating an outstanding poster design for our limited print concept. It’s absolutely perfect! We’re going to be at Venturefest at York Racecourse tomorrow giving away these posters and are really excited about meeting some new people and making a bit of an impact there. We are going to be taking a studio and during the course of the day, creating, editing, playing and performing some of our composition and sound design work so come and grab a coffee and have a chat with us!

Audio Tips & Tricks - 002 - Duplicating Audio Tracks
Have you ever tried duplicating the audio tracks you’re working with? It’s a pretty good way of giving audio tracks an extra edge and depth for your productions. Most editing software has the ability of adding a number of audio tracks for effects, atmos, dialogue and music so try simply adding two music tracks together, maybe with a tiny bit of delay on one of them, or separate panning (left or right) and EQ. Take care to reduce the volume of your music though as duplicating will add quite a few DB’s to the master channel. Hope this helps!

Audio Tips & Tricks - 001 - To Compress Or Not To Compress, That Is The Question?
Put simply, compression is a tool used to squash the dynamic (volume) range of a particular audio track. Compressor plug-ins are usually available on most audio and video editing software but need to be used carefully and subtly as they have the power to totally destroy the depth and width of an audio track. Used properly, with dialogue tracks for example, they can allow a user to create a clear, smooth, professional sounding audio. Used badly, they can ‘pump’, when the compression of an audio signal becomes audible. There are a couple of rules that I go by, firstly use a compressor subtly! If you don’t know what each part of a compressor plug-in does, find out! I tend to keep compression at a -3db level only. Secondly, create your own presets! If you can, when you have found a sound with a compressor that you like or works well for a particular application, save the preset so that next time you need it you can just load it up straight away. Thirdly, apply analogue knowledge to digital compressors! Back in the day, different compressors had different sounds and different uses, for example some acted like glue, sticking audio together, some warmed audio and some expanded width and depth of an audio signal. Find out what you want to do and how to apply it to the simplest of computer based compressors and you’ll be onto a winner.

WMP exhibiting at Venturefest 2010
10th of Feb, 250 exhibitors, 2000+ delegates, lots of excitement and lots of audio...
WMP will be exhibiting as part of the university showcase part of Venturefest Yorkshire on the 10th of February at York Racecourse. Although Venturefest has mainly been science and technology focused, we are insanely excited about the prospects this might bring in terms of exposure but also in terms of people’s knowledge of what goes into the creation of music composition and sound design. If you are going to Venturefest this year, or are thinking about it, come and check us out and see what we’re up to, we’re going to be doing some pretty interesting stuff…come on…you know you want to…

Over the last month we have had three new clients sign up with WMP...
It has been an incredibly exciting End Of 2009/Beginning Of 2010 with the phone ringing off the hook and loads of exciting contacts being made as well as new projects and clients signing up with WMP and what we are doing. If the rest of 2010 is anything like this first month so far, it’s going to be a lot of fun! More details of the projects and clients to come so watch this space…
New era for WMP sound design
WMP is working on new sound design concepts with The 3D Facility and Factory 311
Wave Media Productions is embarking on an exciting new area of development and discovery. Working closely with The 3D Facility and Factory 311 we are attempting to push the boundaries of sound design and move forward into this exciting area of production. A few examples of the beginning of this work is available to hear in the library.
WMP completes first tv advert for PSA Films
Wave Media Productions on a TV near you?
A new client of ours, PSA Films, commissioned us to write a piece for a client of theirs who wanted to be set apart from the rest. We wrote three concepts, they chose one to finalise and then we put some finishing touches to the piece and delivered. The advert is going live in the next few months in the north west region. This is an exciting step forward for WMP with a new client that we look forward to working with more in the future.
The Post Office uses WMP again
We have recently been chosen for another Post Office project...
The Post Office have recently chosen a WMP piece for another short film that they are using for an internal training project. We are really pleased that they like using our music and are looking forward to working with them more in the future.
CGI Brows wins the People’s Choice Award!!!
Well, we did it, we won the People's Choice Award in the Virgin Media Competition...
Well we entered, we were confident, we were pleased with what we’d created and…well…we’ve only gone and won the People’s Choice Award. We have now completed the music being used for the new web site for Glenmorangie whiskey. The site should be up and running soon so keep an eye out!
